On June 18, 2025, the Garden Competition was held at Technical Secondary School No. 137 in El Tuito, Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. It is worth mentioning that this school is named after Maclovio Millán Martínez, a renowned teacher and regional marching band instructor.
Last year, the Vallarta Botanical Garden provided this school with materials to develop an urban garden, a pollinator garden, and compost projects as part of the Sustainable Project Competition, held during the Cabo Corrientes Environmental Fair in March 2024.
As part of its environmental education activities, the school has utilized these tools to conduct its Garden Contest 2025. Classrooms at all three secondary levels decorated nine spaces with plants and signage, promoting environmental stewardship and an appreciation for nature.
The judging panel included Alejandro Bustamante Hernández, Director of Municipal Ecology for Cabo Corrientes; Cristóbal Daniel Sánchez Sánchez, Head of the Botanical Department at the Vallarta Botanical Garden; and Carlos Rodrigo Garcia Appel, Co-owner of Blossom Nursery.
The winning groups were:
1st place: 3°B won a swimming pool with food included.
2nd place: 1°B won two basketballs and one volleyball.
3rd place: 1°C won two volleyballs and one basketball.
4th place: 2° A won one volleyball.
We appreciate the invitation and look forward to continuing our participation in future editions of this esteemed school event.
