We did it!
Thanks to the generosity and commitment of you, our community, the July matching gift fundraiser for a new electrical generator was a big success.
We not only met but surpassed our $20,000 USD goal, raising a total of $25,350 USD. We are so grateful to every one of the 125 individuals who donated!

During the summer, electrical storms often leave the Garden without electricity. We urgently need a back-up electrical generator, for those times when the power goes out.
Purchasing and installing this equipment will cost $40,000 USD. A generous donor and longtime friend of the Botanical Garden has committed to pay for half, matching every dollar we can raise of the other $20,000 USD. We need your help today to get us there.

We give back to the community through our educational programs and conservation efforts, as well as being a tourism generator for the whole region. Please support the Vallarta Botanical Garden by donating to this campaign.
Why do we need a generator right now?
Power cuts, unfortunately, are a regular occurrence in our remote location, especially during the rainy season and given increasingly frequent hurricanes. To date, we’ve weathered these disruptions as best we can, but last year we opened a new greenhouse. Now, thousands of delicate orchids that we cultivate and study in our in vitro laboratory and greenhouse could die if the power goes out for too long.
On top of this, power cuts affect our entire operation and lead to a lot of lost revenue when we have to close or otherwise disrupt our guest services.
A back-up generator will:
- Protect our plant collection.
- Prevent the loss of scientific research in our laboratory.
- Ensure we can keep our doors open even when the power goes out.
